How the Uberrime Splendid Changed My Mind

I’ve been putting off writing about my medium Uberrime Splendid Dual-Density dildo pretty much since I started my blog but it’s not for the reason you might assume. Sure, there have been certain products I’ve bought that I wasn’t enthusiastic about using, or reviewing, but in the case of the Uberrime Splendid I was concerned about sounding fake.

I bought my Uberrime Splendid six-ish years ago (can’t find the order receipt),  which was around the time I was starting to give more dildos a try again. See, once upon a time ago before the explosion of all these body-safe, affordable options there are now for sex toys the land was filled with toxic, porous, crappy sex toys. Being uneducated, and lacking money I purchased these sex toys, not knowing the risks they came with. I quickly discovered chemical burns, uncomfortable plastics, and just how crappy these toys were. Unfortunately, this also made me think that I just didn’t enjoy dildos (despite enjoying penetration) and that they could never feel that pleasurable. So I didn’t purchase any dildos or insertable vibrators for like five years, with the exception of one glass dildo in 2014, and that’s not an exaggeration.

(*Please note all dings, and little defects in the silicone are my own doing! The toy is several years old at this point.)

Fast forward to 2018-ish there were now a lot more body-safe and affordable sex toy options to pick from, and I had been thoroughly enjoying quality external toys so I figured it was time I gave dildos another try. Silicone toys had become a lot more affordable and readily available, and I kept hearing about how they were squishier. One of my big complaints about dildos (beyond the chemical burns and infections) had always been how hard, draggy, and uncomfortable they were. If any of you have ever put the toxic plastic nightmare dildo, with the most cartoonish veins and texturing you’ve ever seen, in your holes, just to experience the worst burning, scraping and unyielding material you’ve ever felt, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. So while I was understandably hesitant to give the world of penetration toys another try, I was also intrigued by all the new upgrades.

After trying out a few single-density silicone dildos and still not being super impressed with the stimulation I decided to take the plunge and buy my first dual-density dildo. I chose a model made by Blush, which was on sale at the time. I didn’t want to waste a lot of money on something I still wasn’t going to enjoy all that much. This opened my eyes though to a new world, showing me silicone could be soft. Dildos could feel good, and not just leave me sore and irritated.

The dual-density dildo I bought wasn’t shaped to my preference, or the size I wanted either, but having discovered how great this material could feel, my hunt for the perfect dual-density silicone dildo began. This is when I came across Uberrime’s Splendid dual-density dildo. It was curved, had a beautiful, prominent head and corona, gentle texturing, and just looked perfectly splendid (ha) all around. I believe it only came in the medium size back when I purchased mine, but the dimensions sounded pretty perfect to me either way. Uberrime now also makes the Splendid in small and large, so if the medium isn’t your cup of tea you have more options. If I was buying a Splendid today, I would opt for the large dual-density, but back then, the medium was just right.

I still remember how enthusiastic I was when my Splendid first arrived and I got to see just how impressive the quality was. The silicone squish between the two layers felt perfect, and the head was amazingly soft. The corona was even more impressive in person, and the veiny texture was to die for. The mixture of colors and the pretty base! And all of this was just from holding it in my hands.

As I’ve used the Uberrime Splendid over the years I’ve learned a lot about it (and myself). You may have seen the internet memes about “boyfriend dick”, and while I think it’s a silly term because everyone’s preferences vary wildly, and I don’t think toys are a replacement for people, the medium Splendid is what I have dubbed my “boyfriend dick dildo” because for me it suits almost any occasion. It is not too big, not too small, has a curve and prominent corona for stimulating me internally, and the right amount of texture to not be boring. There will always be times I want something bigger, or something better at focusing my vaginal fornices and cervix, but when I am just in the mood for a dildo I know is going to feel exquisite and get the job done, I reach for my Splendid. It’s also one of the easiest dildos for me to pack when I am leaving my house and can only bring limited toys, and not be worried that I won’t be satisfied with my choice.

The Splendid dual-density is also the first dildo I really, really loved having used on me with a strap-on. I had tried several single density dildos in a strap-on and they would usually wind up being painful from a mix of the silicone finish and the firmness of the toy, or because their shape wasn’t right for someone else to use on me. The Splendid silicone finish is very smooth, almost matte-like, but becomes quite slippery when wet; it isn’t sticky so it doesn’t drag, but it’s also not like super hard plastic and the vein texturing doesn’t become completely indistinguishable when wet. It’s flexible so I know it can conform to my body positioning better, too. While it doesn’t feel exactly like its human counterpart it feels like a more natural extension when a partner uses it on me, rather than me being hyper-aware of a toy being used on me because it’s uncomfortable and constantly having to stop and trying to adjust. There’s not many dildos that I know I can ask a partner to put in a strap-on and pound me deeply with so I can have cervical orgasms, and I don’t have to worry about it hurting, or just not hitting the right spots.

The prominent corona mixed with the dip behind the head of the toy creates phenomenal stimulation for my G-spot which surprised me because I often prefer intense pressure-based G-spot stimulation. While it’s dual-density, it is just a tad firmer than other dual-density toys so it holds up well for G-spot or prostate stimulation, but is squishy enough for me to clamp my muscles around and be thoroughly satisfied. The dip and wide head allow me to stimulate my entire front wall, and roll over my G-spot in a way that actually works for me. It’s not the most intense G-spot stimulation I get from a toy but the way it feels quickly brings me to orgasm regardless.

The wide head and forward curve also allow me to stimulate my cervix and a-spot, because I have a shorter vaginal canal than some folks. It’s also flexible enough that I can bend it to rub the base against my clit when I’m not already pairing it with an external toy. While I definitely have toys that can do these things in a more targeted and precise way, I know that this dildo can still hit these spots. The veiny texture is perfect for me. As I’ve mentioned before, texture and I can be a fickle thing, but I also don’t care for most toys to be completely smooth because that does feel a bit boring. The veins aren’t so prominent that I have to be concerned about them irritating me if my skin is sensitive, but if I twist the toy back and forth, or rub it in the right way, I am going to know they’re there.

The Uberrime Splendid wasn’t the first dual-density dildo I owned but it is the first one I really fell in love with, and it’s what made me realize that there were other dildos out there I could love, too. Nowadays I have single density silicone dildos I’m just as obsessed with, but dual-density silicone will probably always reign supreme for me. Materials like metal and glass are perfect for when you want something completely unyielding but dual-density suits more of my moods.

It’s all of these reasons together as to why the Uberrime Splendid is my “boyfriend dick” of dildos. It’s a dildo I can use for warm-up, for when I’m feeling lazy, for when I have limited space and want to bring along a reliable option, and for when I’m not sure exactly what I’m craving. The Splendid dual-density dildo helped me to understand my body more and actually have the desire to explore the world of dildos and find ones that filled my niches better. I will always be grateful to my medium Splendid for everything it helped me to learn and opening up my world to better quality toys.

If it wasn’t for Uberrime and the Splendid it would have taken me a long longer to learn to enjoy dildos, and find ones that I really love. I used to consider myself someone who only liked external toys, and while there is nothing wrong with that, it wasn’t stemming from a true preference but from a hate toward crappy toys. It’s perfectly fine to not enjoy dildos and penetration toys if you truly don’t, but if your feelings have been shaped from bad toy experiences you may be missing out on a lot of things you actually love.

If you want to create your own memories and love story with your very own Uberrime Splendid you can grab one (or three) from Uberrime, in both single and dual-density options. You can choose how soft or firm you want your single density dildos, and you have the option to add a port to make it Vac-U-Lock and bullet vibe compatible! There are tons of color choices, and the pours from this studio never fail to be stunning. Being made from 100% body-safe silicone means it will last you a lifetime so long as you appropriately care for it, too. I don’t think I can emphasize any more how much it’s one of the best investments I ever made for myself.
